Hi,

The media has played a very important role in developing public opinion. I am very glad that most of the people here are against the Indian media in how they are showing things. And that is the real power of democracy - OPPOSITION.

Opposition changes things for the better. The Indian media was restricted to Doordarshan in the late eighties and early nineties when very few people saw the documentary that followed after the 9.30 serial. That was an attempt by the mature DD panel to increase knowledge of the masses.

The media today resorts to showing spicy news. The reason is: the people's demand. They show what the majority wants. I have said this again and again, that the people get what they deserve. Our majority deserves what it sees.

But consider this: In between this spicy bit of news, you see other updates: news about politicians, news about how the Supreme Court is doing extreme justice and news about Shiv Sena's changing stands. Indeed the glue was the marriage of two popular celebrities. But it led to some more information penetration into the public.

Hey, they are there for money. And indeed they are making a difference by being a more informative group than just the Chitrahaars and the movies we saw in the early days. Things have changed, things will change.

Education will change every thing. Experience will ensure that.

This is one of those questions that make you think.
Well, honestly, media today is all about creating sensation. They are getting into the bedrooms of people to create news., This is a true impingement on the rights & privacy of Indians. And they do so just to get news because they have nothing else to show!!
Ash & Abhishek are actors who do not deserve such an importance on a daily basis. One news would be enough to tell their fans about their wedding. Covering the event live 24/7 is not called for in this case.
Instead there are so many things to be talked about in this country which should be focussed on & brought into notice.
Corruption, Poverty, illetracy, crime etc.. can be given due importance. Instead, media makes the criminals & underworld dons Heroes!

well, i feel they're going a little too far!
they tend to show too many SPECIAL REPORTS
they should show social injustices like NDTV's Campaign against hunger, not shows about Saas, Bahu aur Saazish a la STAR News

It has a large viewer base. There are all types of viewers, so they can miss news. They have to inform their all types of viewers.

the only thing the media is interested in is making money for their own interests. even if they do special interest stories, it is only for their own gain. if they don't make money, they no longer exist.
