Yes.
Though I believe it happens with groups working together more often than as individuals.
For those who believe in Christ, he is a great example. Other religious leaders, too. And leaders of different countries.
I think of Mother Teresa as having changed the world. She didn't affect me physically, but I think of her example often.
What about the person who invented television . . . a lot of people waste their lives on that (though there are great programs and it's furthered education, too). Computer and internet, too.
And then of course there are those countless ways we change the world in very small ways simply by how we interact with people. There's no telling how far something will go, either for good or bad. Things we do certainly influence other people's lives. Influencing the lives of everyone everywhere is fairly rare, but changing the lives of a few is usually unavoidable.

Hard to say but it is possible, a man or a waman at one self can change the world in case if they are honest and compare every one the same, but there is a need of time, Money and also thoughts, making people of your own can make you successful fast and paying attention over all will make them to listen to you so that you can change the world but at once you cant do any thing

Yes I do, but usually when they do, it's not for the better. Misguided individuals often think that their cause is for the greater good, meaning they will slaughter many.
There are genuine good people who do try to change the world - Bob Geldof for instance, while not exactly a likeable man, highlighted the plight of ethiopia in the 80's to the world.
The next person to do so will no doubt be the person to solve the global warming debate - be it a scientist who creates a cooling machine (!) to a stand out individual who sorts out the worlds economy to fight it.

Its very much like the pebble in the lake, a tiny pebble can make many ripples in the surface of the water occasionally they make enough disturbance to stir up the lake. One person can do limited changes in their environment and social structure but that small can change could end up changing the world environmentally politically and socially. After all it only took one person to shoot Kennedy, it took princess Diana to change the royal family forever and the nation as a result. what might seem insignificant could be the one change that saves mankind

Changing the world... One person? I think one person can have a very intense impact on the world such as Bin Laden, Bush, etc but CHANGE the world? No...
Now if all these "bad guys" got together and made a conspiracy, then yes i do think it's possible in some sense but to completely change the world?.... I dont know... i dont think so..
And for one person to change the world positively...
One person can contribute to the changing of one aspect of the world, such as the first successful heart surgery (though 2 men were really involved), or something of the like, but 4 one person to change every aspect of the world... I dont think it's possible, whether it be good or bad...

Ask Hitler or Osama Bin Laden....
The bad guys are usually pretty good at changing the world... it's the good guys that have a hard time with it.
But to name some good ones:
Mother Theresa, HH The Dalai Lama XIV, Wayne Dyer, Keith Haring, Ani DiFranco, Oprah, Benjamin Franklin, Princess Diana, Martin Luther King... These are people who are celebrated for being "good".
But there are thousands of unsung heroes who struggle for equality, peace and justice all over the world. CEO's of major companies right down to homeless people who volunteer for a good cause.
There is a good metaphor in the story of how penicilin was discovered... look into it. The person who discovered it had their life saved when they were a child... they later were able to save that persons life with the discovery of Penicilin... I can't remember the names but they are famous.

Yes. even Jesus had his diciples to pass the good word and try to change the way of people and it had taken the task of being crucified to change the world and the people in it, but he did just that and Yes at the end he was one man and still is with God his father looking at the universe of creation and again will change it when needed. No one need to explain it it will just happen.

The answers above mine are all good. I was thinking in current celebrity terms and thought of Angelina Jolie. When she adopted her first child, foreign adoptions by Americans went way up. Now Angelina herself has adopted two children from foreign countries but she has changed some people's views of foreign adoption to the point that they, too, are adopting children from other countries. So in a sense, yes. One person has helped to change the world.
Aloha :)

I do believe that one person can make a difference in changing the world by being assertive, and empowering other people to speak up for what they believe in. Sometimes people are afraid to voice their opinion. If you have someone to advocate on behalf of others, I believe we can move mountains.
