I would like to hear your thoughts on when you would consider a child a human being. I personally believe that a child is considered a human being when a heart starts to beat in the womb. What do you think?

From the moment of conception, the fetus already has genetic make-up. This genetic make-up includes fingerprints.
In today's society, we are identified by our looks and our fingerprints.
As a result, just because the child hasn't started showing it's genes, doesn't mean it isn't a person.

I feel a PREGNANCY is a human being upon conception...There is no way it could be anything else but a human being because cross breeding with humans is impossible so if a human and a human have sex, and her ovum is fertilized by his sperm then there can be no doubt it is a human life form. By the way, it doesn't become a "child" until AFTER it is born. Until birth it is a Zygote/embryo/fetus or simply pregnancy. It has to be born in order to be baby.

In Australia the law says the baby is offically a human when it's 5 month old. If something was to happen to the baby on purpose it would be considered murder.

I think as soon and the eggs meet the sperm life has began!

I have two thoughts about it.

I agree with you but sometimes I wonder if I'm right.

My other thought is when the sperm enters the egg.

This issue will never be solved.

How can we judge such a complicated issue.

I have a friend who had an abortion and she is haunted by it 30 years later. She would like the chance to live her life over and had the baby.

How do we dare advise some one. What if they followed our advice and blamed us in the end.

From the minute sperm mets egg. Images from hi tech camera of child growing inside the womb start to show face & body formation very early on.

well i had a miscarrage at 9 weeks and again at 8 weeks several months later and they wernt considerd "a human being" as such. i was told from the doctors the baby has to be AT LEAST 6 months in your pregnancy (or 24 - 25 weeks) (as buy this time you can deliver and have a chance of servival)

hope this helps

but to me, i considered each of my pregnancy's as they were a fully developed human baby growing in mw, they had a heart beat and they felt things, each one is special and so is this one

Physically, I think when the process begins - ie, when the sperm penetrates the egg. Behaviorally, I think they become able to make decisions and realize right from wrong (on those few issues they deal with) at about age 1.

I'm not a catholic but I do think that there is validity in what they call "immaculate conception". If you destroy a fertilized egg, then you really are destroying a human life, whether it is or will be........there just isn't any other way around it. So I'm going to have to say "conception".
