Sushi singapore style is anything but sushi. Better head to Japanese market at Liang Court or Isetan Orchard after 9pm. Prices will be marked down by then.

Suprisingly, the conveyer belt sushi restaurant at the Changi Airport is very good, fresh and suprisingly cheap. My wife and I ate until we were full, and that takes us a LOT of sushi, with a beer each, was about $30! I will be eating there again next Singapore layover or transit. Otherwise, Chinatown has loads of great live fish restaurants, plenty of sushi to be found.

There's a couple of Japanese restaurants where you can get cheap sushi in Singapore.
1. Sakae sushi.http://www.sakaesushi.com.sg/
There are 26 outlets around Singapore. You can go to the website for the exact locations. The sushi comes in twos and cost S$1.90 per plate.
2. Nihon Mura
There's one outlet at Tampines and another in Revenue House. Sushi comes in twos and cost $0.99 per plate.
3. You can also get sushi for takeaways from most japanese restaurants. They cost much cheaper than eating in.

There are plenty of them in Singapore. Most shopping malls will have them. But the point is depending on what you mean by cheap. The price range here costs as low as S$0.99 to as high as over S$2 per small plate of 2 pieces. Depending on quality and quantity prices also varies.

Rule of thumb for anywhere you go:
If you want cheap food that is original
Look for a place with a lot of locals and order what the locals eat
Stay away from tourist places because they are always over priced and not as good.
