I hope this is a troll.
I like books and food, but I'm not naming my kid Cookbook.
For heavens' sakes...
'let's not tell anyone' -- er -- how do you think the kid will feel about it? When he's of a certain age, he'll probably wish not telling anybody his name was an option for him too.
The word 'race' refers to a lot of things besides just a trashy car thing.
And, which do you expect to be a greater fan of -- cars, or the child?

I LOVE Race! It's a great name! I'm with everyone else, though, on the middle name...it seems little dated. And as far as the lets not tell anyone thing.....That's how we are with names for our children. It's not because we don't want to know what people think about them, it's because when you come up with a really cool, unique name and tell somebody...who is to say they won't take it? My favorite boy name in the whole world is Parker... and that is exactly what my husband's best friend named his son (knowing we planned to someday name our son that), so now we can't ever use it! Vicious, I know, but it happens all the time! You could always look at it that way, instead of looking at it thinking you will not tell anybody because you assume they will hate it!

Congratulations on the baby boy....
I actually think Race is cute. It isn't that different from my little boys name, Chase. I also have a cousin who named her new baby Jase. To make it ia bit different you could put in another letter: Rayce.
Now, Presly to me is very much a girls name. With a unique name like Race you might want to use a more traditional boys name as the middle. He may not share the love as an adult and choose to go by his middle name instead.
And I really like the "Y"! He could go by Ray if he chose!
How about:
Rayce Philip
Rayce Preston
Rayce Patrick* very cute
Rayce Peyton
P names are hard to come by! :)
Oh, and I understand why your wife doesn't want to tell anyone. She doesn't want to hear any b.s. for the new few months. Everyone will feel free to tell you how much they dislike the name or what a bad decision it is UNTIL the baby is born THEN it is just so cute and adorable and fits the baby perfectly!
If you feel a need to tell some, post to us again!
Take Care,
SD

I think that Race is a GREAT name for a boy.. although I would agree that maybe the middle name should be something different. Just MY opinion though. What a cute way to have the new baby match the older brothers he'll have, and, it'll make the older boys feel included too. I think that a lot of people (including myself) want to keep the name(s) to themselves because you get a lot of unwanted opinions from other people. It's one thing if you ASK for someones thoughts or ideas, but you'll have everyone chiming in on what you chould change. It's your child, name them whatever you want. I named my daughter Ryleigh Mae, and only told a few close people, because I didnt want my family of "Mary, Sarah, Hillary, Catherine, Nicole, Patricia, Lindsey"'s to tell me to go with something more ... classic. I wanted something different, and it was my choice to give her the name I did... and I didnt want anyone giving me their undesired opinion.

I'm a photographer and have taken many childrens pictures with many different names...and spellings to go with them... In my very minimal amount of time... 3 years... and only once have i come across the name Race... his daddy was a big fan too... though i hear it was mom's idea. I'd like to tell you their last name was Carr or Karr...or something of that nature...but i do not recall for sure at this time...
congrats! and good luck...
as far as keeping it a secret, lots of folks do, not because they don't want the dissaproval but because of the surprise factor... I like to ask so that i may personalize the baby's gift...making sure of the correct spelling also

I like Presley for the middle name but I'm not crazy about Race. How about Reece Presley? It's close but a little more common.

The winner on the Brickyard will the two be Tony Stewart(ultimately) or Brian Vickers. Tony's been in a huge triumphing stoop, yet'll seize fireplace quickly. Brian has executed amazingly on the Brickyard, and he will the two win, or would be scuffling with for the win on the tip of the race.

Sounds good.
I like Race a lot.
What about Paul, Patrick , Phillip, Pierrot
Presley is not bad. Only he may be teased.
Had to change. I saw Parker and Preston in another Ans.
Lets not tell: brings in controversy and criticims and interference

Race...hmmm.
That would be a hard name for the boy to live up to.
If you're stuck on RPM...why not Rusty Parsons.... (after Rusty Wallace and Benny Parsons).
BTW...my twin boys names are Adam and Kyle. They turn 6 this week! (smile)

Not so sure about Race, I really don't like it...Presley is good. Or even Preston or Parker. What about Riley?
It doesn't matter what anyone says it's your baby.
