Having been raised on a fur farm long before you were born I would say that they can't deal with death of a fury creature but can deal with death of a cow. Remember, that most hippies use to wear lots of leather and it was a statement of being cool. Now this is going to shock you, but most of the hippies in the 60's wore fur's too. My Grandfather use to sell furs to Hippie groups. Look at some of the old picture's of Hippies. They tried to be pretty lavish. Then in the late 60's a drugged out Popular Brit started speaking out against furs and everyone in our nation, with a brain, thought they were crazy. A Hippie from the 60's is a true Hippie. You can't be a Hippie now because the Era is gone, but you sure can pretend to be one. They are pretending and they are messed up.

Yes I agree ,but the problem is leather in their eyes does not fall in the same category as fur! I think this is a Human lack of insight .It is possible nowadays to buy shoes that are not made of leather.I have tried many times to purchase non leather shoes ,bags,Its knowing where to purchase them. They should have done their homework, before attempting this protest.Often peoples appearances can be misjudged and one should try to accord merit for what they do ,they have a long philosophical journey to make. Were they vegetarians? Often people who carry out these crusades are not !They try in their own way to improve the world ! Perhaps they think it is okay to eat meat ,because that is a part of supposedly human survival ,as far as fur goes they must think this is to be disapproved of because it is merely a case of vanity. Cave men wore fur to keep warm and ate meat to survive! Did you ask them why they were standing outside a SHOE protesting the sale of fur ?Perhaps they thought the shop sold fur boots!.........!Duhh.

I am completely Anti Fur. I am not a vegetarian, I do eat meat and wear leather shoes. The Cow is killed for food, so all of it is eaten, I believe that it would be a waste of the animal product if we did not use their skin for leather goods. With Rabbits and other animals that are killed just for their fur, that's when people have a problem with it. They are not bred and cared for and are killed inhumanely. People who wear fur have absolutely no idea how their coat or whatever fur product they're wearing was made.

It does sound as if these 'protesters' were a bit 'fruit and nut' so to speak. I agree with the sentiments of others re non-leather shoes. However, with regards to you specific question, I believe there is a big difference.
When you kill an animal for it fur you are murdering it just for fashion. As for the cow, no-one kills a cow for its skin, cows are for food. People eat meat, the skin is a by-product of this process. It is for this reason only that most people do not oppose wearing leather shoes.

Some people protest without thinking it through. I have seen vegetarians wear leather jackets and shoes. The protest on fur is intended to protect the more rare wild animals like leopards and so on.

I won't wear anything with real fur, its despicable that well known celebrities such as Beyonce Knowles find it appropriate to wear real fur clothes, all her merchandise should be boycotted as a result as she's a nasty cow, there are so many clothes that use artificial/synthetic fur that's better than real fur(dosn't smell), which always looks better on the animal it originated from, that there is no excuse for people still wearing real fur clothes and the same applies with leather goods, faux leather is just as good!

Clearly they havent got much to do, and like to stand out a shop, with issues that they are slightly confused over,
don't worry if you notice they are never there on fridays.. because they have gone to sign on in the job centre and collect their giros, that we pay tax for. Im sure they dont care about the paper its printed on.
Just think of those trees killed to make paper money, so they can have a kfc, on a saturday and not worry about whos morally wrong then!

They sound like total morons. They obviously did not research enough if the shop didn't sell fur, and are total hypocrites for wearing leather shoes. Basically, giving vegetarians a bad name. I'm totally against fur, leather, and I don't eat meat, but I'm against protests, especially angry ones. Ignore them. It's no wonder nobody takes them seriously.

No doubt they will eventually wander away from their location in their leather shoes; keeping warm with their woollen pullovers and leather jackets and wander into Burger King after a hard days intimidating.
