Is this a good society?

2007-01-27 20:21:36 · 10 answers · asked by joe m 2 in Society & Culture Other - Society & Culture

Shouldn't we get a free place to live and free food as members of a society? It's more important than sidewalks, streetlights, and other services that are free to all of us. Then we could concentrate on working for a nice car, mp3 player, going to restaurants (that wouldn't be free, because of the luxury).

Laurel W, you're missing the point!
I pay taxes just as you do!
I am saying, I PREFER that MY TAXES go towards PAYING people to BUILD houses and PROVIDE food for ME, all of US, rather than IRAQIs.
You don't seem to want to IMPROVE this country. And it doesn't mean that I won't WORK once I get the house and food. I could put in a few hours a week building houses and raising food for other people.
You're so NASTY in your answer.
Why are so many people in this site so NASTY and AGRESSIVE and NEGATIVE towards those ASKING questions anyway?

E Pluribus Unum, you're such a MORON!
Read the whole question and the further details before answering.
I WILL WORK. I will do my job AND put in extra time raising food and building houses for others. And my TAX from MY WORK will go towards helping us all. That is what I was proposing. Why do you say I would NOT work? What the HELL is wrong with YOU?!

I agree. I don't think it is fair that we have to pay for anything, who has the right to say they own land when land was here before us? Who is this big boss who makes up all the rules? Who has the right to own 2 cars and 2 houses, when there is people who don't Evan own a can of baked beans??? Its all very unfair and un realistic!!

Let me ask u: Who should pay for or do the dirty work to get everybody their free homes and food? someone needs to do the work. And should be so lazy that we should just sit back and do nothing. Besides, if u do nothing u don't feel productive and that will cause u to get bitter and depressed. If u look at all of the big winners or if u look at the wealthiest communities in the world u will notice how high their suiside rate is. This is bec alot of them don't have to work which causes them to have severe depression. Go to work, buddy, or get involved in something productive & you'll be happy. Good luck!

No, we are not living in a good society.
In a perfect world we would not have taxes, wars, insurance premiums, drugs, crime, pollution, slaves, etc etc

The Amish come close to this Utopia lifestyle.

Indians had their women do most of the work while the braves hunted and gathered food. They lived an ideal lifestyle.
Money is the poorest motivator of people. I believe that money is the root of all evil.

Because people have to PAY to build a place for you to live and people have to WORK for you to get your food! Imagine a society where everyone was expecting to bum off of everyone. There would be no one to make the houses or to grow the food! I think I'd rather learn to work myself, thank you very much.

I agree that we shouldn't need to, but people are so money-hungry that I find it sickening. I think, though, that if the government just gave away free food and housing to everyone, we might be like a Communist society. That would not apply to free nationwide health care, though.

Nobody has to pay for a place to live or for food. You can build your own house and grow your own food in some remote region of the world.

Of you can become a street person.

Actually, it's an improvement to be able to buy those things. Otherwise we'd have to go find our own food, cultivate our own fields, hunt, spend all our time on that, AND THEN still have to find a cave or build a house - it's a lot better that we can buy them, I think.

Otherwise, this world would be chaos. A free for all. You have to work to survive. Plain and simple
