The only way to try to get rid of this weed, is to try to dig it out with its roots. Then put down weed killer where the roots were. It is a very difficult weed to get rid of. When you have dug it out, burn the weeds.

If you are an organic gardener pull up and pull up the plants. Don't put them in the compost heap or you'll have so much more knot weed.
If you don't care about using pesticides--try something like those spray pesticides that kill plants (weed & feed type I guess and roundup)

If your gardening organically, dig it up and burn it (don't compost it as it'll just spread further!), you won't get all of the roots out and it'll be hard work which will have to be done several times over before you get it all.

The easiest way is to be non-organic and spray it with a glyphosate based weedkiller such as Roundup.
