I thought I had read a long time ago that it may have something to do with a mans integrity, honesty, nerve, or some other character trait. Is this just a myth, or is there something to it?

If I didn't have a strong handshake it'd probably because I'd be wanting to touch the person as little as possible in fear of where that hand has been, but that's just me

It is one of my biggest pet peeves that guys will not really shake my hand. I think that most are afraid that they will hurt me...which I take as a double negative. Now I don't want a man to crush my hand but a straight forward, firm handshake shows that you are self-confident and that's make all the difference!.

depends on who's hand he is shaking, when i shake a girls hand i do it softly, when i shake a boys a do it firm and strong. bet i don't judge people by there hand shake, it could just be a personality etc... but reasons nothing to do with integrity, honesty, nerve.

We are taught that a firm handshake shows strength and character. However a strong handshake can be easily learnt and therefore means zilch.

It means that he really doesn't care to shake your hand, that you are beneath him and the only reason he is shaking your hand is because it is considered an obligatory formality.

when a mans handshake is weak and it aint broke,and he dont kiss it,to me it says hes not very trusting or trustworthy.being a girl a weak handshake to me is offensive.

youare pretty good at observing..but I dno't think it has nothing to do with anything..my grip changes...just weather how much I know the person...but other than that ..hmm..nithng

That he has sweaty hands, and he doesn't want to gross you out.
That's why mine used to be really weak.
