I've never read or heard of Marcel Proust . . . is he good?
Anyhow, my favorite authors (so much easier to pick authors than it is to pick books!) are Chuck Palahniouk, Carol Queen, Emma Holly, Terry Pratchett, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Diane Duane, Mark Acito, Ayn Rand, and Laurell K. Hamilton.
My overall favorite book would probably have to be "The Leather Daddy and the Femme", just because it's revolutionary, hot, and, basically, the only book of it's kind. I've never known anything to come close to it.
In mainstream (non-erotica) books, my favorite goes to Ayn Rand . . . "Atlas Shrugged" is a book that stays with you all your life.

hello, altdorfer...have you ever read any books written by Nevil Shute? He died in 1962. But he wrote some pretty impressive books. Try 'Trustee From The Toolroom', 'Round The Bend', The Legacy'...and if you're lucky, you'll find his biography, Really lucky. I had to send to England to get that, in 1968. It is called 'Slide Rule'.The man was amazing. And public libraries still have his works.

My favorite books are by Chuck Palahniuk, the guy who wrote Fight Club. Some of his other great works are Choke, Haunted, and Lullaby.
