Yes to explore the spiritual self through clues. For example, having an out of body experience may be the key to a higher purpose as most people do not experience it

No - sorry !

Just because we are sentient beings does not mean that we have some higher ulterior purpose in our existence.

We arrogantly believe (or once believed) that we were the only animals on the planet (or even the universe) capable of intelligent, rational thought, but the more we investigate the higher animals, the more we find that we may be wrong.

Who actually knows whether dolphins (say) have self-knowledge and may actually be the principle intelligent life form on the planet? Who has got it right? Given the choice, wouldn't you rather sod about in the Mediterranean all day rather than go to work in the morning?

Many, many people have stated their belief in a higher purpose and have devised plans for returning from the grave to prove our continued existence. There is no concrete proof for this ever having happened. There is no concrete proof for anything other than birth, life and death. So I'm afraid that I believe that that is it - there is nothing else.

Some would say this is a morbid view of life, but I would disagree. I have lived my life to the full and still do. If there is a higher purpose, then it is to make the best of what you have - not mope around examining your own navels. Get out there and enjoy your life - its the only one you'll get.

PS. I'm quite prepared for people to disagree entirely with this. That is their choice and I have no problem with that but, for me to be convinced otherwise, I'd like to have some concrete proof.

That life has a higher purpose than life itself is a concrete manifestation of anthropocentricity. That a life of a protozooa has a higher purpose than its life itself? From ecological and evolutionary point of view, it has!

However, human life can have a higher purpose than life itself depending how we view the world as we live life in this world. But in the world of endless and infinite stupidity, a higher purpose of life than life itself is only significant to a very few thinking and sentient humans. Albeit the boundless frailty and imperfections of the human civilization, they try to dedicate their whole lives and even their life itself in the struggle of justice and truth towards a peaceful world.

purpose? i guess the only purpose life has is to create a subjective reality...consciousness.... you. of course this subjective reality or consciousness is the personification of existence itself. the collective self. we of course are experiencing the whole of existence in the 3 dimensional mindset, traveling in the higher dimension of time. i have concluded that as life goes on and consciousness becomes much more advanced, we will begin to see reality in a higher dimension. seeing things in a higher dimensions means you understand it better. think about a painting vs a statue. a statue gives you a better sense of what is going on given by the fact that you can actually walk around it and see different perspectives of the same thing. so these higher dimensions would work like that. a better perspective of the collective self or in other words, existence.

No I dont. - we only exist, think and reason while blood flows through the brain.

There is no higher purpose than life itself and it would be a lot better life if we all accepted that idea.

The higher purpose than the individual lifetime is the karmic balance over the series of lifetimes that you live, with the highest purpose being as one.

No, I've seen no evidence that would indicate there is. Most people who have "evidence" for this are just wish fully thinking. I knew a woman who was convinced that she could talk to god and predict the future. She was usually wrong and when she was right is was on simple things which were pretty apparent. Yet she used those few right predictions to claim that they were proof of god. Oh well.

No. I don't. Life is just this, its living. You don't get a reward for living.
Life is ALL we have. That is why we live. We were born into this world. We either waste our life feeling sorry for ourselves or spend life saving people & giving them hope. Simply because, if life is all we have, then the smallest act of kindness is the best thing that can happen to us.

Going into it backwards, again, The Purpose was to solve a problem the creator was having. This is the answer. Does that help?

THere are many levels to life... we are initiated to different tiers and therefore grow... the higher purpose is unclear to the non-listening ear.
