Several people have commented that we are all special and we all have our own special gifts.
I believe this is true, but what sets gay people apart is the experience of marginalization, initial doubt, rejection, and ultimate self-acceptance. Gay people are driven by necessity to develop a certain degree of self-awareness and sensitivity. That was certainly the case for me.
Gay people are not the only ones that experience this and there are plenty of self-aware straight people.
The fact remains that while things are better, growing-up gay is still usually an isolating and difficult experience, and one which religion and law tells us is either unacceptable, illegitimate, incompatible, or inequivalent.
Whatever their experience, a lot of people turn to hobbies to channel their energy and to cope -- reading, writing, drama, art, engineering.
If there is any basis for the "gifts" you are talking about, I believe this is it, and it's not something that is limited to gay people.

Well, gay men are more smarter than straight men. Gay men carry more administrative and management positions, make more money. As to straight men, most of them will work manual labor. Gay men have more of an open mind which allows them to see both sides of the perception. Straight people have no clue how gay people think, some even think that gay people choose to be gay. I just know, that I'm glad I was born gay. I have no distractions like having a kid, to ensure a successful career and education.

All I can say that if we don't fit under the category "normal" then we must be exceptionally gifted subjects.
Seeing of course that "gay people" are no different from others, then they have their gifts and flaws just like everyone else.

I think we may as a group have higher creativity than the so called straight community. I certainly find gay and lesbian friends seem more alive than my straight ones, but that might be prejudice on my part.

yes. click on my picture, and look at the questions I've answered. Look at all my responses. You will see the talent of the h_m_sexual. It deals with the power of sperm. ( I cant believe I'm telling you this secret). It also deals with our constant struggle to be "better " than straight people, Though I (personally)suffer from no such struggle. Rather, I will teach all who are h_m_sexual how to be emotionally superior.

Historically, I grant the possibility that social conditions encouraged / forced a rise to greatness, almost to "make up for" what everyone was making them feel was this terrible awful thing.
