The WAV document is uncompressed and it is a precise (examine: bit-for-bit) replica of the CD. because it is uncompressed it also occupies various of complicated disk area (round 10 megabytes in accordance to minute). some audio formats like MP3 and WMA are lossy-compressed and they "modify" the sound only fairly with the intention to attain more desirable compression (ie, an MP3 document has abount a million/10 the size of the same WAV document). once you're utilising lossy-compressed formats, this can clarify why you're noticing those adjustments between the ripped song and the unique CD. you should tear from unique CDs (no longer copies) and use more desirable bitrates (192 kbps or more desirable; some people use 320 kbps) so that you'll income from the compression and do not observe any differences interior the sound.

Nah, you can't rip tracks from CD to MP3 with the Microsoft Windows Media Player. You didn't expect Bill Gates to let some cash to slip by him by offering a good free inovative feature of his precious Media player did you?

No seriously, you can, but to transfer to a portable device is a feature thats only built into Windows Media Player 11 (Media Player 11 is only available to Windows XP operating system).

Since I'm running Win2000 (and loving it), I can't give you a step by step instruction of copying to portable device, but you want to look for something pertaining to the word: Synch, somewhere in the program.

To rip from a CD in the CD player to mp3 files is easy, in any version of Windoows Media Player. Click on File, Copy and Copy from CD. It will start the process and the .mp3's will end up in your My Documents/ My Music folder.
