Economic growth is material growth. Everyone talks of GNP and other purely mathematical figures when they measure the progress of a country. Measuring India this way is also a mistake. A country ought to be judged by its spiritual growth and moral growth. What is the use of going into statistics of the worlds richest people or the number of billionaires, when there are countless who sit in despair. Meaningless. I would say that instead, as is always said and reiterated by the pastor of our church - "How many of you have read the Bible completely this year", and a certificate is issued. I would easily say that the certificate of having read the Bible if placed on a balance against a billionaire certificate will tip down. Don't mistake me. I am not a persuasive spiritualist. I am only looking at judging what is meaningless ofset against what the world really needs but cannot even see or know. Spiritual and moral understanding. I don't think I have answered your question as you would have expected, but I seriously feel all of us should reassess our values; what we are to value in life. Not material wealth, surely as for me.

Yes, I believe India can become a leader in the world in the future. Are you ready for all the problems that could bring. As an economic leader, you will have to increase your use of resources found around the world. Are you ready to face the hatred and envy from other peoples when they see you buying and using their resources to become rich and powerful? That is much of what the US faces now - could you handle that.
How would you deal with the growing radical Islam problem? If these radical muslims were ever to minimize the influence of the west (USA, Britain, etc.) around the world, do you believe they would be content. Or would they turn on someone else. I think that Russia and China are ignoring this possibility and will face this problem in the future. Would India be ready to face this problem too?

I doubt anything will change in terms of quality of life. Miracles can not happen overnight. China worked from 70's to reach this position. We have not even started and talking too much.

What I can say is: Wake up. Don’t try to follow China’s example. They are ripping off the material base for future generation’s survival of the world and in the meantime worsening the living conditions of billions of poor people by exhausting the limited resources and polluting the environment. Follow your Buddha and Gandhi, they are the real sages and wise men, it is the rational thinking that can finally save human not material snatching struggle. Salvation is just a mind away while material struggles will inevitably bring all human to extinction. Struggle for a rational system in human society that can stop the rat race and open the way to future.
