when you were like dozing off or were like almost all the way asleep when you hear someone knocking really loud and you wake and realize that there was noone knocking? That happens to me a lot and it scares the crap outta me. Anyone else ever experience this??

Sounds like a hypnogogic hallucination (hearing or seeing something that isn't really there right before you fall asleep). In & of themselves, they are not usually something to worry about. However, if they keep happening & you find it distressing, you could talk about treatment options with a psychiatrist. Good luck!

I do. Most of the time you may think its knocking but it could of been a noise from outside. That happend to me not to long ago. I thought somebody knocked on my door but it was the nieghbor walking up the stairs. don't be scared, its normal.

yes it does happen to me all the time and yes it is scary so I put a doorbell on my front door and put the speaker box just outside my bedroom door so now at least I know that if their is someone at the door it will ring. And if I think I hear the door knock I know it is just my imagination.

Yes, this was happening to me quite often. It eventually got so bad my friend drilled a hole in my head and some little, tiny people came out. After that it went away.

Yep, there's even a name for it - tonic or clonic something - jerk, I think. You also often jerk a limb once. It's normal but obnoxious isn't it? And can be startling.

most people experience some level of sleep apnea, where they stop breathing intermittantly while sleeping.Maybe you 'snort'when you start breathing and wake yourself up.
