First, we are raised by society to hide our emotions.
Secondly, you said it yourself. "Obviously, I wouldn't tell a guy that," Men are scared of showing their emotions because woman never talk to us about anything. They hide their questions from us, so we are afraid to speak out, too. The biggest problem is that in a relationship, women have TOTAL power. We follow along and hope things work out. We are always left guessing what we should do next. Of course, this is only for good men, not playboys who follow their (things) through life, jumping from one bed to the next.
If you really want to know, ask him. He will be so surprised that a woman cares to listen that he might answer.
Sorry that it sounds kind of negative, but if you really look around, you will understand just how accurate it is.

This is where women generally overthink men. We don't like to show emotions. When we do bother to show our feelings, it takes us outside our comfort zone. We care, but why do we need to show it all the time? Here's how you know if we truly care: still around? We care. See? Very simple.

Women overanalyze, and Men underestimate. Take it as it is, and remember that women carry the spell.
