I think that the number of sexual partners prior to marriage would vary with each individual, whether it is a woman or a man. It would also be dependent upon what age a person gets married. The other factor which would cause a variation in the number is the person's outlook on sex. In other words, there are people who look at sex as a sport, as a conquest, as a verification of their attractiveness or self-worth, or their hormones are just getting the best of them. Then their are those who consider sex as something special, to be shared only with someone you really care about, even if it isn't for marriage sake. Those that are looking for quality, instead of quantity. Also, people that are scared of deathly STD's or getting pregnant.
I got married late in life (36), so I probably had more partners than someone who gets married earlier. Although, for the most part, my sexual partners were within relationships, not one night stands. I do not want to disclose the number but lets say that it is in the range that I can count it and still remember every one of them.

I am 29 and I have had 15. I have never been married. I have had 3 serious live in boyfriends, 5 semi serious boyfriends, 3 flings, 3 one night stands, and 1 friend with benefits. This is over the span of 10 years since I lost my virginity later than usual.
By the way, I would love to have already been married by now, but I just can't seem to find the right guy. As someone told me just yesterday: "My picker is broken." Words of wisdom.

I am 51 and have had 5, Was married,he was 1st. I am sorry but know of no average. I hope that people sleep with people that they have feelings for and not just anyone,anywhere.There are too many risks out there today that could stay with you forever and could kill you.I believe in morality.
