Yes, if the whole country is dumped down the toilet and started over new, it may take around 400 years.

NO. We are far from it. We started liberalization in 1991. It has been 15 years since that happened. China too started it around that time. You know where we are and where China is. This country will keep discussing things ad infinitum. For every action there will be a equal and opposite reaction. Even for meaningful ones.
Policies will get distorted from their conception to their implementation. We haven't started conceptualizing some thing meaningful. We have democracy and wide spread poverty. For every development oriented move, you need to take a dozen social upliftment moves. We have a miniature world of all developed and under developed country within this country. Don't look at the mini US within India. We also have a Somalia within India. So this miracle can not happen for some 50 years.
Look at the TV, we have big fights over petty things. Movie stars and their private life are the preoccupation of our channels. We have our intoxications / opiums.
Politicians have to bring about this growth as they have the mandate to govern. I haven't seen any politician / political movement that thinks of such rapid growth.

Sure if the corruption in government can be eliminated. Other than having millions of semi-literate citizens, rampant disease, backwards attitudes about women, starvation, open sewage, and 36 different languages. there's nothing to stop India from getting, testing, and using a few nuclear weapons, but that is not the definition of a Superpower. One needs to only consider the enemies of the USA, they define a Superpower more than anything. Ever hear of a hotdog roast in India.?

This is like the 5th time I've seen this question in the last week . .
I HOPE so . . being a superpower is getting old for us Americans. We are hoping that somebody else would step up and take over so we can be left alone for a change.

India has the capability and deserves to be Super Power but the priority is to get rid of poverty and uplift the living standards of general masses first Caz becoming artificial power will serve no purpose as long as the country is not free from economic worries and Rather slavery.

If there is a WILL then there is a way! Possibilities lie at the bottom of impossibilities. All that India has to do is to act both in words and deeds to be so.

I would have no respect for any Government who concentrates on becoming a super power when most of its people are living in poverty. It costs billions to become a superpower..

I think they can become a major player at the rate their country is growing and expanding, but there's already a lot of competition from people like US, Germany, Japan, Britian, France, etc.
