I booked a room at a Travelodge on the internet last night, but picked the wrong location from the list. When I realised (about 2 seconds later), I cancelled. The website allowed me to cancel but would not refund the money. Now I have no room and no money. Is this fair? Tried phoning but can only speak to a machine. Tried emailing but can only get a response 'withinb 10 days'! What can I do?

Just to clarify, I now ave no booking and no money. If they will un-cancel the booking, at least I can use the room. My biggest problem is that it is impossible to speak to them about it.

I know it is harsh but they do give the warning that cancellations are non-refundable. You will have to go into a local travelodge and plead with them.

Most hotels, including Travelodge, will take your credit card details in case you are no show but won't charge your credit card until after your stay. Speak to the booked hotel directly rather than their central office explaining what has happened and they will cancel the booking penalty free.

I use these quite a bit. when you book online they dont take payment. You pay upon arrival. They also allow you to cancel the reservation, penalty free, right up to day of arrival. Check your bank/credit card statement.

Ring the Travelodge direct. If no luck then ring your bank and cancel the payment and never use Travelodge again.
