ROMs/Emulalators and the downloads?

I was at my friend's house and he downloaded a ROM / Emulator and he also had to download a couple of other things and I'm just wondering what he had to download and where I could download them. I do remember that he had to download something that started with Project.

The ROM I'm lookin' for would be for the Sega Genesis, for the game Comix Zone, which I own so i'm not doing thing illegal. Just to let you know

you need to get winzip/winrar just get winrar and when you finish downloading the rom open it you dont have too you can play the file in zip too as for the emulator theres snes9x vba project64 and others and people say roms are illegal but you wont get in to trouble this news is old s h i t so you wont get sued
