According to all I have read and all the people I have spoken to, it seems that only white persons can be racist.
Why is this so?

Are you seriously asking this? Ignorant people are racist. Not all ignorant people are white.

anyone can be racist.

white people probably get more press and tv coverage as the whites have had some real world class racist..i.e. Hitler and the Natzi regime/Klu Klux Klan,/ Aryan Brother Hood/etc etc etc
The reason people are so fascinated with Hitler/Natzis is that they were the ultimate evil in the world that went mad. Also ther Germans documented their war crimes and most countries like Russia,China, and Japan (many others too) did not document their crimes like they did in Germany.
The Japaneese still have a closed society who look down at mixing blood lines..only they are more subtle about this.
I know a lot of Mexicans who feel the same about mixed marriages. But it seems the white race does stick out.
They say in 200 years the majority of the people will "coffee color"

It isn't necessarily only whites that are racist. Racism exist in every race in one form or another. And there is also racism within race, which isn't even subject to racism from anyone of caucasian descent. I think it just has to do with some of the questions that are asked on Yahoo! Answers. And there is also the fact that racism, even today, is a sore topic for a lot of people, especially to those who live in areas where it occurs so involuntarily it's like a person drawing that breath of air that is essential to their life.

Don't know if you are intentionally trying to start a riot here but this is a very silly question. What have you 'read' and who are 'all the people' you have spoken to? You don't really elaborate why 'only white persons can be racist'. It just doesn't make sense.

It's not that only white people are racist. It's just that in American history, it's the white racists that got the most press. Mainly because they did things like lynch black people and burn their houses down and shoot them and drag them behind carriages and pickup trucks and force them to work on plantations and maim them when they tried to leave and deny them the same basic human rights from the Constitution that white people enjoyed, among other things.

But people of any race, color, or creed can be racist, no doubt about that.

It's not so, hehe. Anybody can be racist. Using words to put down the esteem of a person from another race is being racist. It's not limited to white people. The 'racist' term for white people is 'cracker' nowadays. I'm not so sure a white person came up with the idea of this, so I guess, in turn, it became racist somehow.

I don't believe that is true. I think a lot of races or racist against other people. People are ignorant. I watched Trading Spouses this last Friday and the guy on there, who was African-American, was racist against white people. Anyone can be racist, but it should be called ignorance!

Because people are stupid...

People seem to think that "white people" are rich and have power. So that makes "white people" racist.

In today's society... If you are not "white" and you say something racist about another race, nothing happens to you.

But if you are "white" and say something about another race, you are a racist.

It makes no sense...

Just like Micheal Richards, when he used the "N word" , he was blasted by everyone, especially black actors.

Now that actor on Grey's Anatomy, Isaiah Washington called another actor a f*****, everyone, especially black actors, said it is not a big deal and he should be given second chance.

Double Standard.

I really don't know why when a white person has a negative comment or reaction towards the black or or colored, he is accused as a racist. No one say anything about a white against white, or black or colored. We have bullies, discrimination against a person with the same color. Or vice versa.
We are a changing world, the term "racist" should also be changed in its connotation or meaning.

They're not. I am a white guy in Seoul and have been the victim of racism from Koreans mahy times in the past. The argument that "I'm not white, so I can't be racist" is nonsense.

Here's another example of non-whites being racist. In my university, the black students rallied to have the word "black" capitalized in the student newspaper. When asked why "white" shouldn't also be capitalized, the representatives said, "Because you are all mongrels, not like us, who are purely from African countries."

This belief is a bunch of c**p. Plenty of people of other skin colors are racist.
Plenty of black people in this country are racist against whites and Asians. Some Asians don't like blacks and maybe whites too. What do you think all the murders against different groups in Africa is all about? It's one group of Africans who don't like another group and are prejudiced against them. Koreans think other Asian groups are inferior, so do Japanese and who knows how many other Asian groups who have prejudice against other groups. Many Asians have prejudice against half-caste children and the children become outcasts.
Don't believe the idea that whites are the most prejudiced group ever. This idea, in itself, is nothing but bigotry.
