Why do people think when you say that you don't believe in the war that you don't support the troops? I think a lot of people who marched today support the troops and feel for the families but, do not believe they should be at war. Do you think it is possible to support the troops if you don't believe in the war?

To the people who think that soldier are only around for war. There are many other reasons for soldiers other than to go to other countries and fight. For example I'm sure if they hadn't been in other countries you could have used your soldiers more sucessfully in New Orleans. Maybe its just because I am Canadian and we use our military in a more peaceful capacity than the U.S. does. I'm sure if you think about it there are many ways to use your troops to directly help Americans in your country rather than send them out to which ever country get hit on the presidents dart boiard next.

Because we are in it and if you don't support the war "effort" you are not giving our soldiers your full support.
They are over there dying for you. How would you feel if you were over there laying your life on the line for others and they didn't believe in what you were doing?
Think about it, I suppose you feel they all but died in vain....
Exactly what Al-Qaida wants you to feel.......

Because we need to show the world the we are united, even if we have our own opinions , we should still be united, instead of protesting on the street where somebody can get hurt, why wont we do good to others, community around us need volunteers everyday, our country is been so much already both nature and politics etc...instead of creating more problems why not all of us unite and protest by creating something positive to all of us, what ever the outcome of any war our children's will be the ones to benefit on all of this so why not do something good for the future after all we just cant let another Hitler rise and then after that it will be too late!

I don't believe the US shoud be in Iraq. But since they are,I hope they meet the objective. If I am anti war and the US goes to war then the next thing for me to do is to support the troops. Some people believe that just because you are an American, you should be for ANYTHING that the US wants. Look at it this way; people who have kids love them ,(or at least should). Does that mean that they are supposed to agree wtih everything their kids do? Of course not. In fact ,because they love them, some of the things their kids do is going to upset them because they CARE about their kids. If they did not love their kids, they would allow them to do anything they want. It's the same with your country. Because you care about the country, you care what it does and don't always like or agree with everything it does. If you or I were unpatriotic,we would not care one bit what the government did. People want to call those who are anti war unpatriotic. That just goes to show how desperate some people are to get you to agree with them. We don't all have to agree on anything.

Yes, I do so myself. I support the troops because they lay their lives down for me and all other Americans. But they are fighting a war which was started by a President who is a proven liar. So I do not believe in the war.

Becuase "support the troops" is rhetoric. It operates on the assumption that public support for a war boosts morale for troops. The problem being that the troops are not exposed to the media.
I think you're right -- people who are for the war are trying to turn it against you.

Think of it this way, "support the troops, but to do what? to live or die?" The phrase is inspecific.

People don't have to believe in war and still support our troops that are fighting for us for us to have our freedom which most people take for granted.

I completely understand. The troops arent the ones who made the call to go into the war, they are just following the orders. Once they get there I think self-preservation kicks in among other things. It's not like they can just sit there and protest once they get there. I agree with you 100%.

protesting the war emboldens the insurgents because they have the example of the Vietnam war to show that they don't have to beat our soldiers just our politicians. SO.. each protester ought to simply wear a Sherpa or a turban and yell Allah Akbar.

well to support the troops means support our kids
and there some took the advantage of this conflict
then i must say would i support killing 665 000 Iraqis never harmed me,or would i go invading others lands for lies about wmd
or introducing democracy
would i go murdering the president Saddam Hussein on the holiest day for Moslem's hiding behind simple ideas that as long troops are there Americans would not protest against (BUSH)
