IQ tests should not vary. Some administrators will qualify them to age groups but the bracket will be very wide. Like for any age group, the average IQ for a twelve-year old is 100. 128 is quite smart, 140 is gifted, 160 is genius. Most school districts will move kids with an IQ of 130 or higher to the Gifted programs.

Most current IQ tests have such strong validity and reliability that the scores should not change much over time. Typically, once you get a valid IQ score, the average is between 90 and 110. Regardless of age, an average score should fall in this range (with 100 being the perfect average score). You will see some deviation between scores, but this is usually no more than 5-10 points. For example if you took the test at 10 and got a score of 100 then took it again at 12 and got a score of 105, the psychologist would say that there is no difference between the scores.

Last time I took an IQ Test mine was about one hundred fourty something. I'm 13, though. I would say about 70-90 or so for the 'average' 12-year-old.
