Hi. We're engaged and just planning our wedding back home, but it's so difficult finding venues that are reasonably priced (I don't pay R200 for a plate of food at a wedding!!!) but still look nice. We're looking in either Gauteng area (Close to Pretoria) or KZN (near the Berg). Does anyone know any reasonably priced places? All we're looking for is a pretty chapel and a nice location for the reception, but don't want to pay off the debts for 10 years thereafter! PLEASE HELP. (We don't have parents who can afford to just pay for our wedding like so many other young people have). Thank you very much

Try this nr: 0027116133526. It is the number for a place called Grandiflora and they sell and hire out wedding dresses, but they also have contact numbers of some very good places. I used to work in the florist requisite dept af that shop. You just need to ask for the bridal department.

Congratulations and good luck. I hope you have a very good day and are happy together for the rest of your lives. I have been married for three years now and it has it's ups but also its downs, but at the end of the day it is worth it.

If you want magic, have your wedding at Tala Private Reserve, which is about 15 minutes from Pietermaritzburg. They do a buffet menu at R120 a head which includes:

Potato leek soup (to be served) with fresh homemade bread

Roast leg of lamb with mint sauce
Broccoli and cauliflower au gratin
Savory rice
Lemon parsley roast potatoes
Glazed honey and cinnamon butternut
Creamed spinach bake
Greek salad
Potato salad
Coleslaw salad

Milk tart
Pavlova of seasonal fruit
Cape malva pudding
Fresh cream

Tea and coffee

Or, if you can stretch to R180:

A Cajun chicken salad
Or
Prawn cocktail

Fillet béarnaise
Oxtail and venison casserole
LM Prawns grilled in lemon butter
Lemon butter, garlic butter and peri-peri sauces
Tina's spinach and bacon
Orange and honey glazed butternut
Savoury rice
Lemon parsley roast potatoes
Cauliflower and broccoli au gratin

Wedding cake desert
Mascarpone cream mix with red berries

Cheese platter
Canapés for 16h30

There is a minimum venue charge (they have like six different lodges) of R60 per head, and the booze is amazingly inexpensive.

They are very nice people, they might be able to work with you a bit on the menu to reduce the cost further.

Accommodation at this game reserve, which is an amazing place (I stayed there earlier in the month) starts at R450pp and includes breakfast and a game drive, and is very upmarket/luxurious.

In the 'Berg there is a place called The Nest which does weddings and they also have a honeymoon suite. Looks beautiful on their site but I have no idea of costs, just that they advertise that they do weddings all the time.

Hey, I know what you mean about debts but don't forget that it is your wedding, you should make it one to remember.

Congratulations to you both.

Warm weather all year round and surrounded by beauty 24/7. Take a look at this venue.

I attended a wedding there and it was a magical experience!

That relies upon lots on how many people you're inviting. We weren't looking Southside Chicago, yet close to West Suburbs. i might advise calling eating places on your section, notably those with party rooms. My fiance and that i've got been staring at Maggiano's in o.ok.Brook for a on an identical time as, yet that they had 0.5 their substantial ballroom reserved on our date, and the different 0.5 could no longer accommodate our reception for one hundred twenty people. that they had a $5k minimum to apply 0.5 the ballroom, yet i'm effective you would be able to desire to discover someplace extra inexpensive than that in case you called around. the main inexpensive place we regarded at became probable the Alpine feast domicile in Westchester. no longer all that extensive and not very fancy, yet i've got been advised that's a intense high quality place for a social gathering. sturdy success.

it will help you...
remember one thing don't stress to much about it, i am sure where ever you choose as your venue it will be great.also remember that luncheon and brunch wedding receptions are much cheaper in every aspect (less alcohol consumed and cheaper menu)
also if you like a particular venue and its abit above your budget, you can cut costs in other aspects of the wedding, like your flowers.
