When you say an mp3 player I am assuming you aren't talking about an IPOD. If you have an mp3 player and it doesn't have it's own software than you can just download windows media player.

Now if you have media player and you want to put the songs onto your device. Basically, from windows media player there is a tab that says "sync". Click on that and you will see an area where you can "refresh devices" or it will say "connect devices". With your mp3 player hooked up hit refresh if you don't see your player in the pull down menu already. Once you see your player, select it and highlight the songs or playlist that you want than hit "sync".

Now, those were directions from the top of my head. It may look a little different depending on your version of windows media player. I have media player 10... no wait, media player 11 now. If you still have windows 98 I wouldn't be surprised if you had media player 9 or later. I am almost positive that all mp3 and media player devices come with music software and without more details from you I can't be more specific with an answer.

I hope this helps
