I recently started having nightmares and Im 23. In fact I just woke up from one. This is the second one I've had in the last two weeks. They've both been about being possesed and they've both been really scary and realistic. What is causing this? What can I do to stop this?

Ok here is what happened in my dream. I had a brother and sister who were different than my real brother and sister. They were waiting for me in a shopping center. I was laying in my bed (in the dream) and I could see them talking. Then I heard voices in my head(now this sounds crazy) telling me to "go forth" and it felt as if someone was inside me pulling me out of bed. I felt as if I was trying to resist, but couldn't. Then went into the place my brother and sister were and sat down with them.I felt like I knew I was going to hurt them and there was nothing I could do to warn them. My sister was pregnant in the dream and my brother was talking about his child. (neither have kids in reality) I felt like I was watching them from a distance even though I was sitting right there and that someone else was talking for me.

Wow. I have a lot of dreams, yet I haven't had a nightmare in years. Most of them were when I was a kid. I am happy and open to actually having more, as it helps me pause and reflect on what it means on my life, and possible improvements.

Cause: Has there been something in your life recently that makes you feel like you aren't in control of your life?

Stopping: Start by now that you are awake, think about a positive outcome on how the dream ended if it had continued from when you woke up. Then before going back to sleep, think of how you would have stopped it in the middle. Empower yourself. It's a dream, go crazy with the plot. Just say no to the possession, or flip the rolls and possess the possessor

Really think about the causes part, if you feel a part of your life is out of control. Why you feel that way, and if there are things you can do.

There's nothing wrong with adults having nightmares. We have fears just like every one else.

Like most dreams, nightmares also may be caused by your mind trying to resolve issues. Try analyzing exactly what exactly happened in your nightmare. If you need help, post a description of your nightmare here. That way, you can get to the root of why you are having nightmares and what you can do to stop having them.
