Defiantely! It all depends on your hair cut and whatever else is done to it. If you get a wash, rinse, cut, layers, dye and whatever else you ladies could get done to your hair you can easily have a hair style in the hundreds of dollars. Therefore you should tip accordingly with time spent in chair and quality of service.
My hair cut normally cost $15 and takes 15-20 minutes and I give $5 tip. If my hair cut was $125 and took almost two hours than I would probably leave around $30. Now don't leave a good tip just because they cut your hair, you are tipping for quality. That is your ultimate determination. Plus, if you tip well your styleist will always give you the best hair styles and attention... remember that because they remember the good tips..... and the bad ones!
Have fun

I dated a hair stylist...and you absolutely are expected to tip. The amount you tip is related to the price of the hair cut and the amount of work that went into it. She expected more from a woman getting a perm and streaks then from a guy who just wants a little off the top. She always told me a good safe number was 5 bucks if the haircut was around....and to go up from there on the price. My barber charges 22 dollars...and I give him $5 or more deopending on what I had done. He's always seemed very pleased....I think I know him well enough where he;d have said something by now if it weren't appropriate.

Yes , you have to tip. Its an unspoken rule, but it shows you have class and a good upbringing. The general rule of thumb is to tip 15 % of your total bill.. which usually end up being 4 to 5 dollars in a good yet moderate priced salon.. if you feel the salon is very pricey, opt to leave 10 % of the total as a tip.. but of course if your bill runs into hundreds and youre runing a little low budget wise.. leave at least something between 7 to 10 dollars.. just as a mark of your good manners.

If you are trying out a new hair dresser then you dont have to leave a tip because it lets them know that you have to see how you like your hair cut and that maybe you'll go back there. If you do go back it tells them that u did enjoy thier service and then you can leave a tip biut no mes then five buck. hair cuts can be expensive now and days

if my stylist also washes my hair, she gets $5 for each, the wash and cut. my haircut only costs about $20-$25, so i tip well. if someone else washes my hair, each person gets $5. it's a nice thing to do, especially if she does a good job.
remember, they control how you look for the next 6 weeks or so! be nice!

I usually tip $5 if they do a good job. Nothing if I don't like the cut. If I get it highlighted I always do because it takes a lot of their time.

Yes. It makes the person cutting your hair feel appreciated and they'll take better care of you every time they see you.
It's very difficult to find someone that cuts your hair the way you like it. So when you do find them, you better tip 'em.

Who is the dumba*s*s giving all the thumbs down for the perfectly good answers? Hopefully not the asker, it is not nice to ask a question and then give a lot of thumbs down, that is pointless. Yes, they should be tipped to let them know you appreciate it, unless they are rude.
