For the Lakers? Yes
For the NBA? No
The NBA MVP should be a player who was actually valuable to the entire league not just his team.
1. Although Kobe is very valuable to the Lakers he is not the most valuable to the League
Example:
Steve Nash has won the NBA MVP 2 years in a row.
a. He should not have won.
b. The 1st year he won he wasn't even voted MVP on his own team. Amare Stoudamire was.
c. Nash has not even a starter on the All-Star Team, hell he has only been an all-star 3 times in 11 seasons.
d. What great player leaves a team and the team does better when he is gone? Nash left the Mavericks and thats when the Mavericks had gotten to the Finals. When Shaq left the Lakers they went from the Finals straight to a Lottery team.
e. Jordan never won MVP 3 years in a row.
f. Why has Nash won at all?
1. The NBA was looking to change its image. Braids & Tattoos were disqualified
2. The NBA wanted to attract more Caucasian ticket buyers & Sponsors
3. The NBA wanted a role model for white kids to emulate so that there might be more White players in the league.
When Jordan was in the league ticket sales and TV rating skyrocketed any time jordan was either playing on the road or on the tube. THAT IS WHAT AN MVP does. He brings greater attention and Revinue to the entire league.
How many Nash Jerseys do you see around? How often have you seen the Suns as a highlight game?
Last Years MVP was clearly LeBron James!
This Years MVP is Gilbert Arenas! aka "Agent Zero"
If he doesn't generate money across the League than how can he be considered Valuable to the NBA.

To all you ignorant people that are replying yes, please go run into a knife. Kobe FINALLY learns to pass the ball in his nine year career and now he's an MVP. Are you nuts? Souldn't you learn to pass the ball at the YMCA when your 12? Please don't mistake me as a Kobe hater. I think he is one of the most athletic players in the league. But that's not all it takes to be MVP. And to Dr. WACKmadia, you're an idiot. First, you say that it's not about being an MVP on your team, it's about being the MVP of the league, but then you go onto say that Nash shouldn't of won because he wasn't even the MVP on his team. Contradiction? Also, did you happen to run a study on how many Nash jerseys are sold. Probably not. You're just running your mouth and not making any sense. I'm just glad the voting for MVP is not in the fans hands (like the all-star game) and you Dr. WACKmadia are a prime example of why. The MVP should go the Dirk or Nash and the one who leads his team to the most wins. The only stat that counts.

I'd say Kobe has a chance to win the MVP award. But the field is very tough. Leading candidates are Nowitzki, Nash, LeBron, Arenas and Kobe.
At this stage, it is still too early to pick up the winner. Let's wait and see at the end of the regular season.

Are the Lakers 35-8 and on a 16 game win streak? Nope!
The Suns are tho, and Nash deserves his 3rd MVP. Well up to the All Star break, he's the MVP.

This is isn't baseball where Alex Rodriguez can win MVP after having his team finish last place in their division. Gilbert, Nash, or Nowitzki will most likely will it because their stats are similar to Kobe's but on better teams. Ok except Gilbert but his team might finish first in the east.

If you want the MVP to be the guy who is the most talented...then it's definately Kobe.
If you want it to be the guy who's the best player on the best team...then it's Dirk Nowitzski
If you want it to be the guy who makes his teammates better...then it's Steve Nash

Kobe is way too much about ME ME ME to ever be considered.
*Edit* Dr Ackmedia...The ALL Star game is merely a popularity contest, has nothing to do with skill level. Also the league is also much more diverse, even the first round draftpick was European this year.

Yeah it incredibly is definitely an MVP season, idk why he did no longer win. yet purely with the aid of fact kobe had a extra appropriate season than derrick rose did does no longer mean he could have gained the MVP that year, i mean they have been distinctive seasons so which you cant evaluate them. specific kobe could have gained, yet bro that became 9 years in the past, enable it flow
