Ultimately, colleges want to know whether or not you will be successful at the post-secondary level. A high GPA and high test scores are two of the indicators they use. They also look to see whether you are motivated enough to challenge yourself and whether you can handle that challenge. This is where honors and AP classes come in. They are more rigorous, and thus better mirror the difficulty of the coursework you will face in college. If you do well, it helps the college to be confident that accepting you is a good decision.

OK well i don't know about your teacher and I'm defiantly not trying to insult her intelligence or anything but in my high school they stress honors courses. my administration has said over and over again that it would be easier to get accepted to a college with honors courses and it will help you with the pace of college. something about the rigorous schedule or something like that. but yes they do help you. *it is actually better for you to get a "C" in an honors course than in an academic course*

While my kids were apoplying for college we sat through the admissions talks at every top school you can name. They all said the same thing - we want students who have challenged themselves , who have taken the toughest courses their schools offered, and who have done well.
If you want to go to a top school, you are probably not going to get in unless you have taken the toughest courses your HS provides. If you are just applying to State U. then it probably doesnt make any difference. Was your teacher dissing you when he said that for you it doesnt make any difference?

certainty is, maximum faculties are lots much less annoying to get into than you think of. lol do some reasearch on some faculties you ought to to circulate to, and look at their admission requierments, Of coursego previous that so which you would be able to get scholarships. do no longer provide up! once you are going to attempt for the nationwide Honor Society, you ought to to take perhaps one or 2, do only no longer attempt to do ALL honors. endure in innovations, honors is named that for a reason, ITS troublesome! in case you get right into a classification, and you're no longer waiting for it, this is okay. they are going to probable only positioned you lower back right into a frequently happening classification. start up out taking some honors, in the educational you think of are rather a breeze. endure in innovations nevertheless, the educational that are no longer something to you in frequently happening classification, you are going to ought to do greater artwork with honors. Yuo can do it nevertheless, i've got self belief in you. once you're already frightened approximately that stuff your sophomore year, you have already have been given a head start up on maximum of my previous classmates!!!! :-D sturdy success hon!

It doesn't. Its all about GPA and ACT scores. But mainly GPA. Honor classes can help in the sense that the grades are worth more than regular classes. A "B" in regular class is worth 4points but in Honors class its worth 5points.
