My thumb is numb and it hurts at the lower joint area, how do i know if it's broken?

Well it's allready very sore, but it doesn't hurt unless i move it to certain angels.

I hope that doesn't mean that it's broken, how long does it take a broken finger to heal?

Usually they swell, bruise, and ache really bad, plus they may look out of alignment. Sometimes broken bones don't even show on x-rays, but it is the best they can do to check. The Dr's will probably splint it up for you anyway, since it is damaged even if it isn't broken. When I broke my fingers, it would throb like a heart beat at night, I had to sleep with my hands in the air. Usually I dozed off holding on to the headboard.

Well first you must know of some trauma to your thumb that could have fractured it. The thumb would be swollen, painful, and perhaps some deep bleeding caused it to be black and blue. You already know that an X- can confirm, but there is not much other than to let it heal if it is indeed broken.
