by all means I would try to save someone elses life, either its a relative or a friend. or even a stranger.

Logically I'd only save someone else's life in preference to my own if there were several of them. I wouldn't give up my life for one complete stranger - he could be a total git.
Biologically to best preserve your genes you'd give up your life for 3 siblings or 5 cousins.

It would depend on who the person is. I would save my either of my brothers' lives before I would save mine. Or my parents lives before mine. I probably wouldn't sacrifice my life for a complete stranger, although it might be different if it was, say, a small child.

I would save my daughter. But anyone else, that's a tough question. Because if I die she grows up without a mother. So I'm not sure what I would do if the situation came up. It would probably depend on who.
