Go with the traditional spelling...Simon. My wife has a very common first name with one letter different in the spelling, and she has had nothing but problems with it. Including teachers marking her papers wrong for writing her name wrong. The only benefit to a unique spelling is, when telemarketers call, they do not know how to pronounce her name, and really torture it, so I know that it is no one that knows her and I can hang up the phone, simpy saying noone by that name lives here
