I am looking for some movies/documentaries that you watch that make you think, educate you, or something that just blows your mind. Movies like An Inconvinient Truth, Blood Diamond, The Corporation etc. Even movies like Thank You For Smoking or Jesus Camp would do. I rather enjoy these types of movies but there are far and few between. Either way, thanks for any suggestions

They aren't as few and far between as you might think; you just have to know where to find them. The first answerer had a pretty good list, as I've seen many of the ones she mentioned. However, since it seems like you're more into the "thought-provoking" ones (i.e. An Inconvenient Truth or The Corporation) as opposed to the ones that sort of just document a particular person or event (i.e. Grizzly Man or March of the Penguins), here are some others I would add to the list:

1) Lost Boys of Sudan - documents two former child soldiers from Sudan moving to the US
2) Why We Fight - examines the connection between war and capitalism
3) Sir! No Sir! - about vietnam soldiers who refused to fight and were persecuted for it
4) Born Into Brothels - photographer's experience with the children of Calcutta's red light district
5) The Trials of Henry Kissinger - self-explanatory
6) The Boys of Baraka - documents "at-risk" inner-city schoolchildren sent to a boarding school in Kenya
7) The Road to Guantanamo - documents 3 British Muslims who were unjustly arrested and sent to Guantanamo Bay
8) Favela Rising - lives in Rio de Janeiro's worst ghetto are transformed by music
9) Seoul Train - underground railroad that helps smuggle refugees out of North Korea
10) Children Underground - examines homeless children and overpopulation in Romania
11) The Yes Men - funny doc about guys who pose as world trade experts and give outrageous speeches at high profile functions (this one's more for fun)

There are many many more out there. If, by chance, you have Netflix account, just check out the Documentary section and you'll find stuff to watch for weeks on end.

I know each person interprets movies and documentaries differently, and you may not think that this doc. is mind blowing..but if you haven't seen "Murderball" you really should see it. To watch these amazing human beings who have overcome various accident that landed them in wheelchairs and strive and accomplish more then most able bodied human beings...WOW simply wow..and it has great humor in it too. I may not have a long list but this one is a must see that dabbles in a subject most people turn a blind eye to. Hope you enjoy!

Good docs:
Grizzly Man
The Thin Blue Line
American Movie
The Big One (depending on how you feel about Michael Moore...I really liked this one, even though I don't particularly care for him or his style of filming)
Grey Gardens
Winged Migration
Spellbound
Paper Clips
Harlan County, USA
Hope this helps.

There are lots of good foreign films that really make you think such as 'Osama', 'Amores perros', 'Khandahar', 'The Take', 'The story of the weeping camel'. there are others but they escape me at the moment.
Then there is also 'the children of men' that paints a bleak yet possible outcome if we don't stop polluting our planet. 'Babel' is a disturbing moving on many levels, not the least because the U.S. think everything is a conspiracy/attack on their citizens.
I hope this is helpful.

bowling for columbine

this is one of my favorite movies. some parts are a bit extreme but it does a good job of speaking to a wide spectrum of people. you also get to see people like Marilyn Manson and one of the creators of South Park in a more serious light
