Thong panties, particularly combined with tight, low cut jeans can cause the following health risks; vaginal and bacterial infections, haemorrhoids, lacerations of the anus — or possibly an increase in sexually transmitted diseases among fellow thong-wearers.
Dr Vondensteinenum of the Institute of Women’s Health took time out from folding fetching new designs for 'JLow' designer sanitary pads to talk to us. “We have found that the majority of women who wear the ‘combination’, especially in drinking establishments, tend to have unsafe sex practices. This leads to an increase in chlamydia and sexually transmitted diseases. We have also found, because of the rubbing of the material along the buttocks and the tightness of the fabric, that women are more likely to suffer from inflammation, lacerations, infections and even infertility, solely from their unfortunate choice of knickers.”
Utterpants put these concerns to a spokestypeperson from the Ministry of Health, who told us: “We are currently looking into womens' underwear and considering putting warning labels on all thongs to clearly state the health risks associated with these garments. We need to educate the public over this mounting dilemma. Women wear thongs to be sexy, yet the poor sods who have to go 'down there' to clean up the yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis which result from wearing them don't find them much of a turn-on.”
“We are especially concerned about the amount of women wearing thongs while pursuing activities in which they sweat, or bounce around a lot," added Dr Vondensteinenum. "Vigorous Yogic exercises or horseback riding in a thong are incredibly reckless activities for a young woman. Why, you could cut off the circulation to your entire vagina! It’s better not to wear any underwear at all!"
"We couldn't agree more, doctor, " we commented.

Thongs aren't particularly good for your...ahem...female health. They can cause damage to your girlie parts, not to mention can give you some serious infection problems due to the fact that all of the dirtiness of the underwear is pressed right up against our delicate skin. If you do decide to wear them anyway, make sure they are 100% cotton in the crotch area, and at least 2 inches wide because our stuff needs to breathe, you know.
On a side note, I read somewhere that we shouldn't sleep with underwear on, because it's better for our girlie parts. Underwear collects lots of bacteria during the day, and you don't want that to get all over you while you're sleeping.
Want to hear a gross fact: By the end of the day, the average person has about a quarter teaspoon of fecal matter sitting in their underwear!

Apparently your Mom is right. Although thongs may be considered sexy, they are also believed to cause yeast infections, an overgrowth of yeast that are often present in low numbers in the vagina.
While there is no proven evidence to back up the notion that thongs are in fact hazardous to women's health, many women and gynecologists have found that yeast infections are more prevalent in women who are regular thong wearers.
A fungus called Candida albicans causes vaginal yeast infections. While they can be very uncomfortable, yeast infections are usually not serious.

Safety isn't an issue. What's important is how you want to feel and look. It's your body, and it's up to you to decide how to clothe it. If you're Mom is concerned about yeast or other types of vaginal infections, I haven't seen any research linking an increased incidence of these problems to particular types of garments. However, if she has come across some valid information and is concerned for your health, talk it out with her and come to an intelligent decision.

it's a matter of personal taste... Thongs are more comfortable and so are g strings in my opinoun some would disagree but I just know what I like and what I think looks cuter... (for quick unplanned one night stands.. you gotta think about what would be sexier)

...I think it's up to you and your comfort...I find both of them well depending on what I feel like...however if you were thongs everyday and night you are more prone to infections...
