Its perfectly normal to have times of heavier vaginal discharge during the month, especially around ovulation. If you notice it the most roughly a week and a half before your period, that's probably what you're experiencing. However, when you say "gooey", that makes me think that you might have a yeast infection. You get yeast infections because there is a disruption of the natural balance of yeast and bacteria that are naturally found in your vagina, the yeast overgrows and causes discharge and itching. Something as simple as taking antibiotics or having an unusually heavy period can throw this balance off. Your best bet is to tell your parents that you need to see a doctor. He/She will take a small sample of the discharge from your cervix and examine it under the microscope for the presence of yeast and for other problems. The doctor can prescribe you anti-fungal medication which can clear this right up!

I know that there are plenty of yeast infection medicines in the drug store, but you really do need to see a doctor. I'm no physician and I'm only speaking from my personal experiences. It even states in the instructions of these OTC drugs that if this is your first experience with a yeast infection, you should speak to a doctor. Good luck!

The vagina is a self-cleaning organ. What you're describing in probably perfectly normal. And you can purchase panti liners (there are very very thin pads) instead of using toilet paper. Just avoid the ones from Always, as the stay dry lining that they use doesn't allow air circulation, so it encourages all kinds of problems.

I'm giving you some information links, but your should also make an appt to see your doctor (a gp is fine - they can handle most of this stuff, and if they can't handle any given problem, they will refer to a GYN). to get this checked and to ask your own questions.

I believe this is very normal. At least I experienced it as well. I think it is the vaginas natural way of clensing itself. I started to experience it before my first period, and it is something that has continued, but has lessened with age. You can buy panty liners for this, to keep you dry, much better then toilet paper. But don't feel embarrassed about talking about it, all woman have it, and talk to a woman you are comfortable with. Again just a natural thing!

Most women have a discharge during the month. When you ovulate (make an egg) you should have some discharge. It will probably last a few days.

It's fine... it's just discharge... your body's way of cleaning itself out... try using pantyliners if it's too uncomfortable.
