I would not send it back but definitely they would lose me as a customer.

you should send it back. Although the higher class restaurant you dine in, the less problem you will have doing this. I know of no cooks who spit on the new meal in upper end establishments, but I'd be careful at diners, fast food places etc. Also, be polite about sending it back and you'll have no problem. Explain your reasons in a very brief explaination, and don't do it so the place will think you are trying to get something for free. Believe me, it happens. Also, expect to pay for your new meal, but of course, not the returned item...

Would I? I have done on more than one occasion. I'm not paying for something if it is not acceptable standard for me. Could be clothing, furniture, fresh produce at the market or a meal in a restaurant or even a cup of coffee. You are right as far as the food or beverage is concerned, I don't want a replacement. Sad to think that people have come down to that level but there it is.

If I was just "disappointed" by my meal, then I'd just pick at it and not order it again. If the meal wasn't cooked right or wasn't what I ordered, then I'd send it back. If you're sending food back just because you're a little disappointed, it means that you seem a little difficult to me.

I have never sent food back at a restaurant. Reason being, I never had to. If you're so worried that someone will spit on your food, try eating at a better establishment or try cooking at home. I love to cook!

i have been in this industry for 25 years.ALWAYS have your expectations met when dining out.thats why you went-and thats what they are there to do.of course no one spits in food.it is a crime that is punishable by jail.i have NEVER seen even a scowl from a chef or cook when food is returned by a guest.its simply a part of our daily grind.people often order something that read well on the menu-but just wasnt what they expected.other times, the item WAS overcooked or undercooked.you are likely to get a free desert if they made a small mistake.just be polite.it wasnt intentional.

I worked in restaurants and I advise people not to send a dinner back. They have ways to fix it up for you. I would probably get the word back to management, and depending on what the problem was and how they reacted, may or may not return. Don't make a scene; it just makes you look bad.

Yes, if the problem was something that was there fault, like an undercooked steak or burned fries. And I would do it VERY politely, it's the rude idiots that get their food spit in.
I would not send it back if I tried something new and just didn't like it, then I think it's my problem.

i work at a resturant and the best thing to do is send your food back. if u go to a better class resturant (chillis or red robin) you shouldnt be afraid of anything happening to your food. the best way to handle it is just be nice cause its not the waiter or waitresses fault. if you still dont feel comfortable talk to a manager. the place i work at gives out coupons for free dessert, appitizers and even meals. basically if its a good resturant they want you to be happy with your food and making your bad food good is a way to make you happy.

Yes - I would. But as a culinarian - I would have to be aware of the repercussions ie spitting in food etc. for sending my food back
