If you watch the video footage you'll notice that when he actually floats above the ground, the onlookers are never shown above the neckline--that is because they go back to the location and film him levitating with stand-ins dressed like the onlookers and cut back to the original onlookers reacting to a very easy levitation trick (which Blaine did for the real witnesses) where the person appears to rise several inches off the ground. The levitation trick is just about angles and line of sight. You should position yourself at about a 45 degree angle from onlookers; next, they should be viewing you at a profile, or side-view; only the foot nearest viewers should be visible, the other foot should be about 8 inches apart from the visible foot; you then rise onto the tiptoe of the foot they can't see, while holding the visible foot straight and flat with the ground; the unbalance of the foot they can't see will cause you to waver slightly and give the illusion that you are levitating a couple inches off the ground. It's a very old and very easy illusion.
