Please give me all the resources you have, i am desperate! My dog is sweet and only 50lbs (full grown at 2 yrs old), but everyone discriminates. Not to mention, my mother is disabled, on section 8. So the odds are really stacked against us, but we really need to move, where we live the people hate us. Please help if you have something constructive. Please don't answer telling me to get rid of my pit, or how dangerous they are.

I mean i have been living here since i got my dog and when i got her they said its ok, i paid a pet deposit, but then this lady moved above me and out of the blue started complaining, so because of one lady, they want me to get rid of the dog that i have raised from a puppy. I can't buy because my mother only gets disability ($800 a month).

Put a housing wanted ad on Craigslist.

There are pit bull lovers who are also landlords.

It's harder to find housing if you have a pit, but there are places out there. You just have to keep looking until you find it.

As a property manager I have to tell you that I would never rent to anyone that has a pit bull.
The liability is too great. No insurance company will touch it.Thats just the way it is.
You have two options. You already know what the first one is. The second option is to find a private owner that does not use a management company and try to make some kind of deal. Since you are on section 8 your housing choices will be extremely limited. Stay away from apartments and condos and do not lie about what kind of dog you have, you will only get evicted.

A potential landlord needs to carry liability insurance. Most policies will not cover what are considered dangerous dogs. So it is not a question of discrimination. It is a question of not being able to accept the dog under terms of the insurance the landlord must carry. If the landlord accepts the dog, he will lose his insurance and have to throw the tenants - you - out. So don't blame the landlords. Or the insurance company. But I'll stop short of telling you who to blame, since you already know the answer to that...

Have you considered purchasing? The source of your income, in this case Section 8 housing, does not matter. It only matters if, using this income, you could purchase the home.

There are some nice cottages and apartments
in Benicia....You didn't say what size place.
Napa also has some great places. Check the
classified in the papers....Or on line ..real estate.
Benicia is a very dog friendly town. There are
a lot of pits there. Several dog parks.
