How do you judge others?

How do you judge upon first meeting someone? Everyone judges the second they see you. I am not a fan of judgement, but do it inevitably. I think that there is a line between those that judge and go no furthur, and those that judge and find out if they're right or wrong. I was at a party the other night and there was a good variety of people. Some I was good friends with, some I had never met. At one point a couple sterotypical preppy rich white blonde girls came over, and I felt like they were judging my lower middle class self, with a couple piercings and a slightly dark style. Then I realised that it was me that was judging. So, when you first see someone, what do you judge? Clothes, race, weight, appearance, posture, habbits etc? Do you take time to figure out if your right or wrong? Do you think that the first impression you give off to others is correct?

I judge by the way they carry themselves. A happy, confident person does not worry what you think. They are comfortable in their own skin and so are not defensive to you or judgmental of you. They will take the time to get to know you before judging, unless you give them attitude right away, after all if your not interested in getting to know them, why would they be interested in getting to know you. This has worked great for me.

Judging is a strong word..but I have friends from all walks of life. I judge people on their actions, on how they behave when they think no one is noticing. I judge people on whether they are really open minded and if they walk the talk. I judge people on their curiosity for life and their desire for inner growth. I judge them on HOW they judge others and how they interact with other people. Most of all - I judge them on their compassion and ability to be kind. And I always like someone to look me directly in the eyes.
