That's funny that you posted this because it is on TNT right now and I am watching it. I know a lot of people who hate this movie, most of them are men. I think a lot of guys think it is a "girly" movie because it has a big love story. Also most guys think Leonardo DiCaprio is corny. But to me, I have to admit I love this film. There is good character development in it because it is long so you have time to get to know the characters before the ship starts to sink. Getting to know the characters is the biggest reason why we come to "care" for them and what happens to them, so that by the time the ship DOES start sinking, we are able to feel something for the main people involved, Jack and Rose.
When you look at the love story, it tells the story of a boy who comes to love a girl so much that he would risk his life for her and wants to love and protect her. I think the reason so many young girls like the movie is because what girl doesn't want a cute guy who would treat them this way! Jack is admittedly a "sensitive, caring" guy in that way and maybe that is why a lot of guys don't want to try to get into the movie, it is not always easy for men to admit to or accept the "sensitive guy" role and it is more socially acceptable for guys to adhere to the "tough guy" role.
Other than the love story the cinematography is breathtaking. I saw this movie when it opened in the theaters and I'll never forget the first time I saw it on the big screen. I think it is very deserving of all the Academy Awards it received.

I LOVE this movie, it was just on tonight, is that the reason you're asking? It came out when I was like 12, and I saw it in the theatres about thirty times, in complete honesty. I think that movie was the first obsession I ever had, and I still cry every time I watch it. I'm glad other people love it too!!

I saw it 3 times in the theatre when I was 12...and I still love it SO MUCH. I'm totally lame.
At least I don't cry anymore.

I have to say it was very good movie. It is the only movie i have paid twice to see at the theater. It makes me cry everytime.

it was a good movie, but i saw it at the imax theatre and it gave me motion sickness or sea sickness
