If he agreed to fight then he knew what he was getting into a maybe it put him in check.When he agreed,he had to accept the consequences that came with what he had agreed to.

Depends on what he did. I mean if it was something stupid and childish like namecalling, then it's not worth it. But if he had an affair with your gf or wife, then heck yeah.
