It means an object of great annoyance to yourself. The word “bane” means; a) A cause of harm, ruin, or death or b) A source of persistent annoyance or exasperation. For example; during the time that a bike was my main mode of transportation, I’d often refer to “goat heads” or burrs as the bane of my existence because they were constantly puncturing holes in my tires when I had to drive near an area that was lots of weeds. I suppose you could use the phrase “bane of my existence” in reference to an ex-girlfriend who simply won’t leave you alone.

Google Answer:
To say that something or someone is "the bane of my existence" means that the person or thing is a constant irritant or source of misery.
As a cliché, "bane of my existence" has lost its edge to a large degree over the years, and today is most often applied to something that may profoundly annoy us but is certainly bearable... "Bane of my existence" is now almost always used in a semi-jocular, "what are you
gonna do?" sense.

Texting lets you control the tone and establish what kind of conversation you want to have. Learn here https://tr.im/GDCSv
This is probably the most important part. With texting, you can stop and think about what you want to say to your ex at each step of the way. Instead of reacting emotionally, you can take your time, figure out the right thing to say (I’ll give you most of it), and be strategic with your ex without saying something that you’ll regret.
