I have tried several remedies for vege pests. The main ones being detergent based and nothing seems to work. There are no snails or grubs that i can see. The leaaves of my capsicum and mainly silverbeet are been eaten away by something i am unable to identify whatever they are they are just to small. I am growing them in pots and have only managed to get rid of the ants by putting down sugar & water well away from the vege pots but the other oblivious bugs remain. Can anyone help.

Could be earwigs. Try putting a scrunched up piece of newspaper in the bottom of an old flower pot. Turn the pot upside down, if theres earwigs around theyll be there in the morning!Have you tried a solution of 2 litres water, drop veg. oil, drop detergent, and 4 tspns of bicarbonate of soda.

If I can't get rid of bugs using the dish soap/water then I go to things like Sevin. Otherwise there is a catalog called Gardens Alive....they have natural garden things, for example a pepper spray etc.......I have used some of their products and they have worked. You can find Gardens Alive online too. Remember just because it's "natural" doesn't mean it can't be nasty stuff to...be sure to read labels carefully !!!
