This guy I know of says he is a skinhead. Isn't that usually for people who have a hardcore working class background or something?

WTF? Nazi's are nazi's, they are not skinheads.

I guess where you get the working class backround is from the early skinheads in the late 60's and all throughout the 70's. Early skinheads were a mixture of white and carribean people. They labeled themselves as skinheads because of where they worked, mostly on the docks in Britain. They had to shave their heads for some specific reason... i cant recall it. Blacks and whites(mostly poor) were united with one another. They were harrassed my most of the rich white people in Britain so they decided to label themselves as skinheads/rudeboys. So that people could fear them. So the original skinheads were working class young men. But now a days it can be anyone.

A Skinhead is someone who has pride in themselves and where they come from.

They have a great sense of style(fred perry, merc, ben sherman, lonsdale, etc.) (harringtons,v-neck, collered shirts, slacks, loafers, etc.)
Skinheads always look SHARP (clean shaven, tucked in shirts, polished boots).

They also have a great love for music (reggae, ska, hardcore, Oi!, punk, norther soul, oldies).
They also have a love for football(soccer) (which is where the hooligans come in)

Skinheads (traditional skinheads) can be of any race.

Now this whole deal on how people consider Skinheads as to be white and nazi's is because of how the media portrays them to be. The whole nazi skinhead thing didnt come about about until the early 80's when a Fascist group called the National Front recruited skinheads because of they initmidating look. This was about 12 years after the original skinheads came about.

There are a group of skinheads called SHARP skinheads which is an acronym for SKinheads Against Racial Prejudice. The name explains itself. Which originated in New York.

Many skinheads dont like to get "political" so they just say they are Traditional Skinheads. Which is keeping the traditional values and likings of the traditional skinhead: Reggae, dancing, Soccer, and other things.

you can go on wikipedia to see about the history. this is all coming from the top of my head.....

a skinhead is a neo-nazi. in other words, "skinheads" are people who believe what hitler says was correct (that jews, blacks, etc. are not as good as white people).

a lot of people today, though, aren't true skinheads, they just think being a skinhead sounds cool. which it isn't. tell the guy to grow up and learn about tolerence... because, if he doesn't, he'll be living a long life of hatred and rejection.
