Even when it comes down to music, they dislike someone because its what they might consider them "ghetto" or too "white". Why not explore options. Listen to other things and try to see things they way other people see things. You could learn alot.

We're actually hard wired for it. It is proven that human beings make 99% of their daily decisions within a fraction of a second. On the whole, this is a good thing. It frees up brain space for the things we really want to concentrate on. It also allows us to think quickly at times where quick thinking is necessary.

But those split second judgements cause problems sometimes, especially when we're dealing with race, sex, class, etc. Being aware of those prejudices allows us to stop that split-second thinking. But the prejudices will still happen in that split second, whether we want them to or not.

Why is every other damn question about racism. Quit feeling sorry for your damn selves, get over it, and move on. Find a charity or something to devote some time to. Jesus Christ, I mean if it is not for save the children by some celeb who only cares because they were sentenced to community service, or some whining people who are worried about being discriminated against because they are black or female or skinny or fat or jewish or gay or whatever. It's really enough. Is the BIGGEST thing in your life that you need to worry about? Seriously. IF it is, you really need to get a life, that has real problems.

alot of people are prejudice because they've been raised in an environment that allows them to be so. prejudism to me is basically establishing your preferences. once we've established what we believe to be good then we are prejudice to everything else. many people dont know the effects of prejudism and dont pay attention to it until they are confronted by a difficult situation. but i think you meant about those who are ignorant and so narrow minded. i think the best thing is to either let them be or just show them how much different groups have to offer. the election of 2008 will allow america to see how much they have progressed in race and gender issues.
