the doors of the pyramids in giza are aimed to where, at that time, was the northern star (the star that lies in the line that continuse the earth's axis). at that time the northern star was different from the one we see today, Polaris.

The shpinx is looking at the direction where Sirius, the brightest star, came up above the horizon in the spring equinox, at march 20th.

I saw on a PBS special that the Great Pyramids of Giza are in the formation of Orion's Belt. That's all I can recall, hope this gives you something to help your search. I figure that Egyptians called Orion a diffrent name mabye like Ra or Horas or Osiris
