What?! I do not agree with that people that says it is stealing. I will provide an example. My grandparents go to McDonalds and they buy one sandwich, but they share it (cut it in two). So you all are saying "they should buy two since they are both eating it?" That makes no sense to me.
I would like to say, if you go together and you and your fiancé share the drink and you refill it I don't see the problem. It is no different from you buying one drink and then another of you going up to get a refill from the counter. Or if you see a person refill his drink five times while he is in the restaurant.
I do see where someone said about taking the same cup in the restaurant that they paid for once and to get refill it over and over again each visit. I wouldn't do that. If you are not using the same cup (like that one person), I don't see what the issue is to share the drink and food at the place. After all, their food is fatting enough, so why should you have to buy two cups if you are willing to share the one cup?

I think it's rude to go back and hit the free refill a couple times. I could see just refilling once or so ... but a "couple" times seems kinda stingy. Christ how cheap are you? Because buying 2 small or medium drinks and refilling is really gonna set you back that much?

Well, if your too cheap to pay for 2 drinks then you probably shouldn't go out to eat that often. I wouldn't say it's rude so much as it's stealing. The fast food places not only pay for the cups, but also the soda syrup and the carbonated water used to mix with the syrup. By you buying only one cup and just refilling it so you can save a buck is really costing the company money. It costs them money already by letting people get free refills. The least you could do would be to buy two cups.

It is not rude if you buy a new cup to share every time you go. I perosnally think it is rude to buy a cup that comes with free refills, and keep bringing that same cup for every time there after you go to the place.

I go to Carl Jr for a long time, and I always bring back the same cup that I bought about six months ago. I hide it in my backpack, then when I go to sit down I refill it no problem.

In my personal opinion, No, it's not rude. It would be if you were at another restarant, say Olive Garden or a Steakhouse, but if you're at Micky D's, and you and your honey wanna share a drink, by all means, go ahead. If you're kissing him, then it's ok to share a drink with him. you'd do the same thing if you wanted to taste a new drink he ordered in a bar, right?
and besides, think of the valuable natural resources and money you're saving when you do it!

No, not really.
You are just saving money. And on top of that if there is a free refil it means that every refill is included in the price you pay for the drink.

it's NOT rude, it's SMART! i do the same thing sometimes since it saves money, plus i always waste my drink. I hate for anything to go to waste. Sometimes, my husband and i will share a BIG drink if it offers refills, rather than buying 2 & end up wasting one. It's a waste of money & a waste of drinks.

It is a VERY cheap thing to do. I personally don't do it for the simple fact that it looks cheap. Do you go to all you can eat buffets and share one plate? NO! So don't do it at fast food restaurants.
I used to work at a sandwich shop and when people would do that, I would look at them and think to myself..."How cheap," or "They must be broke." It is like asking for a water cup and putting soda in it.
Would it kill you to shell out an extra dollar? Technically you are stealing.

No, that is fine what you are doing. I use to work in a resturant, and when you keep getting refills, the store don't inventory the drinks, just the cups.
