That's incorrect.
Not all of them are rednecks.
Just the 50%.
The other half are whitetrash.

many today take the term "red neck" to mean hick, southerner, dumb person, uneducated, etc....and Ky, Tenn, VA, WVA all get the brunt.
but if most actually researched the word....its comes from the days of whites coming onto this continent and seeing Indians. Indians were red necks......just like we are still called Red's today when mentioned as a race.....black, white, yellow, red.
My roots are from Ky, my blood goes all the way back to Chief Moytoy, Pocahontas, etc.......I just try to ignore all the white bantering as they are a scared species and they use words often to act tough and proud.
I wish my fellow people would stand up in this day an age and take back our words, our language, our ways. It seems as though the world needs new eyes due to the destruction we see today. We had cities and organizations long before the whites and we lived with harmony with nature.

Sweetie, you aren't doing your fellow Kentuckians a favor with your spelling. That said, almost every state in the south is burdened by the same false stereotype.
For what it's worth, I think of Kentucky as a fairly wealthy state, connecting it to horse racing.

hey hun you ain't seen redneck until you've been to where I'm from. In Mississippi we have our own breed of redneck, and trust me I know how you feel. The movies still show that we don't have electricity or runnin water, and that all our raods are still dirt, hell some even show we don't have shoes, but we know the difference. Keep your head up and be proud of where your from.

Im also from Kenucky and I have noticed this a lot. But if they want to make us look like rednecks then this shows how stupid they are, they don't know us very well. We know we are good people.

You might be a redneck if you live in Kentucky and get your water from a whale.

I wouldn't know. I have never personally met anyone from Kentucky. I do know about area stereotyping, though. It is unfair.

I have never been to Kentucky to know either way, but I think if you're going to disprove them, you should learn how to spell first.

You can find a redneck in any state or country. You just have to know where to look.
