The one in Afghanistan is a war with purpose. The war in Iraq has been politicized too much for anyone to really see the importance of it. The only thing normal people will ever see about this war is how the objectives changed in the past about why we're there, and how the democrats and republicans are dividing the nation over this instead of uniting seeing how this war won't be over this year. So maybe this war had no purpose before, but now there's a purpose, one we didn't anticipate on but very much an important purpose. If at this point we leave then we'll have ourselves a government that will likely fall apart, and much of it would become a staunch ally of Iran and we would face more terrorists coming that country than anywhere else. You can hate this war or love it all you want, but in the end we find ourselves in a serious situation and it can't be solved by removing our troops from there cause it's an unjust war. You'd be opening up a pandoras box of trouble over there and here if we just left. People need to stop listening to democrats and far left nutz or else you'll never hear any real facts about the war, so instead do some research yourself and learn the consequences of an early withdrawl.

I think the reasons behind war should be looked at. Most war has happened in the past (look at the UK) because of man's greed for more land, power, money. I think depending on why a country has gone to war is far more important than its purpose. The purpose of war is to get the opponent to admit defeat. However the reason why we want them to admit defeat may be dubious. For example look at the Iraq war. What do the politicians tell us that we went to war? They told us it was to get rid of the dictator (saddam) which is all well and good but why didn't we invade other countries who had appalling dictatorships and atrocious human rights. (namely countries in south africa) They didn't go to war in these countries because they don't have resources that are useful to the usa (namely oil). Now that the oil is protected (by the usa companies) the allies will withdraw from iraq with the politicans saying that the reason that the country is failing is because iraq itself has made it fail.
War not only has a purpose but unfortunately people don;t realise that it has consequences that they overlook. The amount of innocents killed in war is appalling. What about rebuilding the infrastructure of the war torn country. It also has a huge financial cost to the country. For eg Britian has just finished paying the usa for the money lent to them for the WWII. Just think that it took this country 60 years to pay back the money borrowed (paying back millions each year). Britain paid for the WWII and germanys invasion and it affected lives beyond the 1940's.

There sometimes is a good purpose for going to war. Sept 11th was a good purpose. The attack on Iraq, however our leadership tried to connect it to Sept 11, was not a good reason.
When all men are angels war will become unnecessary. Until that time wars will sometimes need to be fought.

well i resolves confilct but it isn't the correct way to. In school they tell us to talk thingsout as aposed to dukeing it out or firing at each other with machine-guns. but we still have war and war is just wrong. it kills million of soldiers and civilians and also are you willing to take a bullet for your country? no.. i thought so. so there really is no real purpose to war other than the fact tha countries are either ambitous, greedy or need something.
Hope this helps!!!

War is and always will be a threat to those who would do wrong...or the execution of that threat when the transgression is severe enough.
I suppose that one could argue naively that we should outlaw war...I agree in principle, but in rreality it will not happen. We could just say that people will not be murdered or riobbed any more either, but the reality is that this will not happen either.
WHat we do need to stop is arbitrary war. "I war, just because I can". That is an outragious notion.

War is good and bad in some ways, good because it helps those crazy terroists on their side of the world, stop jacking with us. Bad because we lose so many troops, especially in this war now, Bush is doing a sucky job in keeping us alive, he just sends more and more troops out there

As long as there are different religious beliefs, disputed territories and Tyrants....war is inevitable. It is a shame, though, that grown men can't work those issues out in a civil manner.

This a good question. It definitely depends on why the war is being fought. If a people is being oppressed or abused, they should fight for freedom.
