Did knowing James Frey is a liar make "A Million Little Pieces" less enjoyable?

How did they find out he lied anyway? Did he voluntarily admit it?

He had offers to make his book into a movie and when the producers were making a cross check of the details in the book, they didn't find any record of it. I've read the book and I actually enjoyed reading it liar or not. But I hate the fact that he lied to the public just to sell his book.

It was a good book, and seriously, as you read it it's obvious that he's lying.
